Fence Installation & Repair in Milwaukee, WI

Chuck’s Fence is based on Milwaukee’s northwest side, and the city is where most of our work happens. In more than 25 years we’ve fenced everything from bungalow backyards and duplex lots with alley garages to warehouse yards that need an 8-foot fence and a sliding gate.

When you call, you talk to Chuck. He comes out, looks at the property, measures, and gives you a straight price. Customers often tell us we showed up faster than the other contractors they called.

Fencing Built for Milwaukee Lots

Most city lots are narrow, many only 30 to 40 feet wide, with neighbors close on both sides and a garage on the alley. That changes how a fence should be planned:

  • Shared lot lines. We help you confirm where your property line is before we set a post, so the fence doesn’t become a dispute with the neighbor.
  • Alley access. A gate that lines up with the garage and is wide enough for trash bins saves you a lot of walking. For a parking pad, we can build a double drive gate.
  • Replacing old chain link. Many Milwaukee yards still have chain link that’s decades old. We take out the old fence and haul it away as part of the job.
  • Duplexes and rentals. We can split a yard between the upper and lower units, or put up a low-maintenance fence that holds up to tenants.

Cedar Wood Fences in Milwaukee

Cedar is still our most popular backyard fence in the city. A 6-foot dog-ear or tongue-and-groove cedar fence gives full privacy on a tight lot. Horizontal cedar fits the remodeled homes you see on the East Side and in Bay View. Cedar naturally resists rot. A coat of stain every few years keeps the color and adds years to its life.

Vinyl / PVC Fences in Milwaukee

Vinyl suits owners who don’t want to stain or paint, which is why landlords and busy households choose it. It won’t rot, and a hose cleans it. We install full privacy, semi-privacy and picket styles in several colors, including the Arctic Blend and tan options in the photos below.

Chain Link Fences in Milwaukee

Chain link is the most affordable way to fence a large area, and it’s still the right choice for many city properties. We install galvanized chain link, black vinyl-coated chain link (which blends into the yard much better), privacy slats, and commercial chain link up to 8 feet with barbed wire.

Common uses in the city:

  • Dog runs and backyards
  • Rental and multi-family properties
  • Warehouses, contractor yards and storage lots
  • Schools and churches

Commercial Fencing and Gates

We work with Milwaukee businesses, property managers and contractors on:

  • Security fencing: 8-foot chain link with barbed wire
  • Sliding and automatic gates: keypad, remote or app access (electronic gates)
  • Bollards: to protect storefronts, loading docks and parking lots (bollard installation)
  • Dumpster enclosures
  • Snow clearing for storage lots: our skid-loader snow blower throws snow over fences instead of pushing it into them (snow plowing)

Fence and Gate Repair

Not every fence needs replacing. We repair posts pushed out of line by frost or storms, broken boards and sagging gates. That includes custom fences, where we match the existing style, and older iron gates. If a repair doesn’t make sense, we’ll say so.

Before We Dig

  • Permits: The City of Milwaukee requires a permit for most new fences, and front-yard fences have stricter height rules than backyards. We check the rules for your property before we quote.
  • Underground utilities: We contact Diggers Hotline (811) before every job so buried lines are marked.
  • Post depth: Posts are set in concrete deep enough to hold through Milwaukee winters. Low, wet spots get extra depth and concrete.

Where We Work in Milwaukee

We work all over the city: the northwest side near our shop, Washington Heights, Sherman Park, Riverwest, the East Side, and down to Bay View and the south side. We also serve nearby Brown Deer, Glendale, West Allis and Menomonee Falls.
